"At his late home at 791 North Commercial street, December 22, William Ellsworth Purdy, at the age of 63 years.
He is survived by his wife, Olly J. Purdy, and nine children; Mrs. Grace Sears of West Salem, Mrs. Winnie Perry of Jerome, Idaho; Mrs. Gladys Wygant of Astoria, Mrs. R.H. Bassett, Mrs. R.F. DeSart and William, Jr., Kenneth, Lloyd and Fern, all of Salem. One brother in Pennsylvania also survives him.
Mr. Purdy was a member of the Champoeg lodge, AF & AM.
Funeral services will be held from the Terwilliger funeral home on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. H.F. Shanks and Rev. R.L. Putnam will officiate. Committal services will be held at the Lee Mission cemetery under the direction of the Masonic fraternity."
