"James S. Jacobs died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hugh Warren, on Thursday, February 8, 1945, at 9 p.m.

He was the youngest son of Alfred and Martha Brookshire Jacobs, born near Browning, Missouri, June 1, 1851. He was the last of a family of twelve children to survive. On February 28, 1869, he was united in marriage to Mary C. Clem. To this union eleven children were born, five of whom survive.

Those who survive his departure are two daughters, Eva Warren of Browning, Mo., and Blanche Myers of Tacoma, Wash.; four sons, Roy of Pendleton, Oregon, Frank of Tacoma, Washington, Grover of Enumclaw, Washington and Claude of Laredo, Missouri. He also had twenty grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors.

His entire life was spent in Sullivan county with the exception of fourteen months, when they lived in Washington.

Services were held at the Locust Valley Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 1945, conducted by Rev. O. O. Hunsaker of Galt. Burial was in the cemetery nearby under the direction of Payne's of Galt." The Browning Leader-Record (Browning, Missouri), February 15, 1945
