Samantha Woolsey was the daughter of Mark Young and Clorinda Hanks. Grandaughter of Elijah Hanks and Mary Walker and Thomas Young and Mabel Stodder. Sister of David, Thomas, Julia, and Clorinda. Half sister of Emma and Mark Jr. Wife of William Percival and 3rd wife of Daniel Woolsey. Mother of Earl Percival. Samantha married William Percival 22 Sep 1850 in OH. From this union came a son, Earl, born in 1853 in MI. After Williams's death she married Daniel, 19 Sep 1866 in Kalamazoo, MI. After her husband's death in 1887 she went to live with her niece, Nancie and her husband, Zachary Merriman, my great-grandparents in Nankin Twp. MI. She is buried with husband Daniel and other wives in same cemetery. Aunt Samantha is my favorite ancestor aunt. My mother spoke of her through tales that her mother told of her, although it was not by name. I remember as a child that we had a pair of earrings that were a hundred years old that belonged to an aunt and I believe they belonged to her since she lived with my great-grandparents. Researching Samantha helped me to solve many family mysteries from both sides of her parent's families. She is my most favorite ancestor as well as aunt.

Listing from the ca. 1930 DAR transcrption.
Thanks to Albion, MI historian Frank Passic.
