Albert W. (Bert) Norton, Joseph, passed away at his home Tuesday, August 22, 1961, following four or five months of illness, suffering from a cancer. Funeral services will be tomorrow (Friday) at 2 p. m. at the Bollman Funeral chapel, and interment will be in the Enterprise cemetery. Mr. Norton, a retired stockman and rancher, was born May 11, 1891 at Noti, Oregon, son of Albert W. and Ida Norton [nee Evans]. On August 14, 1912 he was married at Asotin, Wash. to Rosa Shelton. He had lived most of his life in Wallowa county, operating in the Paradise area and on Prairie Creek. A couple of years ago he and his wife purchased a home in Joseph and moved there. He is survived by his wife, Rosa, at the Joseph home; two sons: Alvin M., of Kenosha Wisc., and [living]; a daughter, [living]; four brothers: Lester and Lloyd, of Kelso, Wash.; Floyd, of Yakima, Wash.; and Marion, of San Francisco; two sisters: Mrs. L. D. (Freda) Shelton, of La Grande; and Mrs. J. L. (Dollie) Hagseth, of Spokane, Wash.; and six grandchildren. Source: Wallowa County Chieftain?
