Wichita Falls -- Victor James Tholen, 82, died Friday, June 3, 1994 at Bethania Regional Health Care Center. He was born April 1, 1912 in Victoria, to John and Catherine (Lang) Tholen.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He moved to Texas in October 1990. He owned and operated Tholen's Jewelry for 45 years. He was retired. He was a member of Masonic Lodge, Old Fellows Lodge, and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife Janet, Wichita Falls; two sons, James, Union City, Calif., and Tim, Wichtia Falls; two daughters, Peggy Sinclair, Chicago, and Jane Tholen, Johnson, Iowa; a brother, Elmer, Hays; eight grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Vergil H., who died, Jan. 23, 1986 and Wilfred "Wiff" who died Jan. 12, 1963, and two sisters, Viola Tholen and Vernetta Linenneberger.
Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Eposcopal Church, Des Moines, Iowa; burial Wednesday in the Scotch Ridge Cemetery. Visiting hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Westover Funeral Home, Des Moines, and from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday prior to services at the church.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Central Iowa.
