He was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, worked in coal mines in Iowa and restaurants throughout the West, and owned and operated restaurants in Utah and Oregon. He lived in Salem since his 1951 retirement and was a member of Garden Road Christian Church.
Survivors include sons, Robert A., Salem, Ed, Umatilla, Stan, Spokane, Wash., Chris, Leavenworth, Kan.; daughters, Marge Avey, Leavenworth, Ruth Guinn, College Place, Wash.; sister, Hazel Jackson, Des Moines, Iowa; 13 grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Lee Mission Cemetery under direction of Rigdon-Ransom mortuary."
