BRIGHAM CITY—Howard N. Hansen, 79, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday February 23, 2008.

He was born August 31, 1928 in Mantua, Utah, the son of Rulon Clifford and Sylvia Nelson Hansen.

He was raised on a dairy farm in Mantua and worked along side his father and brothers in the family business. He graduated from Box Elder High School in 1946. After serving a full-time mission in the North Central States, Howard met and married Renae Ballinger of Ogden in the Logan LDS Temple.

Howard was a Letter Carrier for the U. S. Postal Service in Brigham City for 35 years, retiring in 1992. He served as Mantua Town Clerk for many years. Shortly after his retirement, Howard and Renae sold the family home in Mantua and moved to Brigham City

Howard was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served as the ward clerk of the Mantua Ward, was a member of the Bishopric in the Mountain View Ward, and had many other ward and stake callings that he faithfully fulfilled. In 1995, Howard and Renae were called to serve a two year mission at the Bishop's Storehouse in Brigham City which they successfully completed.

He loved the outdoors and was well known for his beautiful yard and garden. He enjoyed hunting with family, playing pool with his brothers and buddies at the Senior Center. But most of all, he enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Renae of Brigham City, children; Denise (David) Barker of Brigham City, Mark (Tammy) Hansen of North Ogden, Bruce (Kris) Hansen of Mantua, daughter-in-law Kathy Hansen of Brigham City, brothers; Arden (Faye) Hansen of Pocatello, ID and Doyle (Carol) Hansen of Mantua. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren who love him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Paul Howard Hansen, and Scott Alan Hansen, parents, sister, Faye Halling and brother, Reed Hansen.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mountain View Ward, 105 W. Fishburn Dr., Brigham City. Friends may call on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, and Thursday February 28, 2008 from 10:00 to 10:40 at the church.
