Henry Pappan, one of the oldest men in the Kaw tribe of Indians, was found dead near his home one day last week. Heart failure is supposed to have been the cause of his death.

Obituary - On Friday evening December 25, 1896, Big Henry Pappan, of heart disease. Mr. Pappan was a Kaw Indian of education, taking a lead in all prominent affairs of the Kaw nation. His death was sudden, the attack coming on when within a few hundred yards of his house. He will be sadly missed by his large circle of friends.
