OKOLONA – Johnny L. Moore died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, as the result of a house fire. He was a member of the Class of 1971 at Okolona High School. He was a member of Jolly Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Moore and India Moore.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Jolly Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Chris Taylor will officiate. Westbrooks Funeral Home of Okolona is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Arteria (Jessica) Clifton of Okolona and Sedric Robertson of Buena Vista; four brothers, Leon (Faye) Moore of Tupelo, James Edward Moore of Pontotoc, Harvey Lee Moore of Shannon and Cary Wayne Moore of Okolona; two sisters, Joann (Clydie) Ware of Okolona and Norma Jean Randle of Pontotoc; one stepsister, Joann Wright (Rev. Gene Wright); four aunts, Mary R. Young, Cleora Graham, Berthie Bell and Annette; six uncles, John Moore of Houston, Dave Moore of Jackson, Glen Moore of West Point, Elder P.J. Huggins, Grady Huggins and Lee Huggins, all of Okolona; five grandchildren; a special friend, Larry Mayfield; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Moore and India Moore.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service time.
