She was born on January 7, 1918 in Lott, to Thomas and Sabra Jane Ward. She married Gilbert Cocanougher in 1941, and he preceded her in death in 1990. She married Jess Borum in 1991. She retired from Neiman-Marcus in Houston.
Survivors include her husband, Jess; daughter, Terry Baird of Houston; step-daughter, Brenda Smith; and granddaughter, Nicole Smith.
