Joseph S. Corey, 90, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008. He was born Dec. 16, 1917, in New Kensington, where he resided until his move to Reno, Nev. in 2005. He graduated from New Kensington High School and entered the Navy in 1943. He retired from the US Postal Service in 1982. Along with great love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he enjoyed Big Band music, dancing and playing pinochle. He was an active member of St. George Orthodox Church in New Kensington and St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Church in Reno. "Giddoo" loved his family more than anything in the world, as he was loved by his friends and family in return. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Mary Corey; three brothers, John, Michael and Thomas Corey; and two sisters, Bessie Thomas and Leonore Willey. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Violet; a son, Robert Corey; a daughter, Jeannine (Dr. Paul) Clark; his grandchildren, Lisa Snow, Jeffrey Corey, Jennifer Haslem, Brian Haslem, Paul J. Clark, Jennifer Clark and Tamara (Grant) Medley; and his great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Daniel, Zeke, Zach, Andrew, Max, Everrett and Esme; as well as many nieces and nephews. Friends were received Friday, March 7, at MOUNTAIN VIEW MORTUARY, 425 Stoker Ave., Reno, where Trisagion prayers were recited at 7 p.m. Services were held at Saturday, March 8, in St. Anthony Greek Orthodox Church, 4795 Lakeside Drive, Reno. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
