The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, January 9, 1947

Phoebe (sic) Ellen Erickson, daughter of Samuel and Martha Erickson, was born January 3, 1872 in the State of Missouri, and departed this life at the home of her daughter Vyrl, January 3, 1947 on the day of her 75th birthday, being the only one left of the family of six children.

The family moved from Missouri to Indiana. When Ellen was seven years old the family came to Nebraska in a covered wagon and settled near Center school house west of Oak.

She was united with the Evangelical Church when ten years old. She was united in marriage to Henry Moses Hauser July 2, 1891 at Nelson, Nebr. They lived on their farm south of Oak for 38 years, moving to their home in Oak in 1920. To this union five children were born, one dying in infancy, and the only son, Henry Clayton, in 1919.

Three children survive - three daughters: Vyrl Marpel, Nelson; Mattie Phillipson, Holbrook; Ruth Snyder, Oak. Her husband preceded her in death in 1936 (sic).

Mrs. Hauser has been in failing health for several years, but confined to her home only the last month. She was a kind and loving mother and a friend to everyone. She was the last charter member of Acorn Camp Royal Neighbors of America of Oak, joining in the year of 1899. She was also a member of the King's Daughters.

She leaves to mourn her death three daughters and three grandchildren, besides other relatives and friends.

My mother guided my wondering feet and gave of her comfort divine,
My eyes fill with tears when I think of years that her glorious love was mine.
And though I wonder to earth's end, whenever, wherever it be,
I will thank God I know for days long ago, and the mother he gave to me.
