Allen Woodruff is the son of Robert W. & Temperance Woodruff on the 1860 Tennessee Census. On this census, Allen is 14 years old. He has a 15 year old sister, Virginia; also living in the house is a 30 year old, Mary Willis (who is shown as being deaf and dumb). John Bumpas, 22, is also living at this address. No relationships are shown on the 1860 census that could associate these residents.

He was a Civil War Veteran; 45th TN Calvery. He married Elizabeth Gregory on 4 Feb. 1868 (TN Marriage Records).

On the 1880 Census, Betty Gregory is living with Allen and Elizabeth (also Betty) in Rutherford Co. Tennessee. Probable brothers, Robert W. , wife, Matt, & John, are living next door or next farm. Allen and Elizabeth have sons, Joseph (11), Bob (8), John (Johnny) W. (5), & Allen W. (3).

On the 1900 Census, Allen, Elizabeth, and 4 yr. old granddaughter, Vera, are living in Fannin County, Texas. On either side of them are probably sons and their families.

The 1910 Census shows Allen and Elizabeth living in Whittier on Luella Street (now Beverly) near Howard St. He is 64 and he and Elizabeth have been married 42 years. His occupation is shown as a tract gardener.

According to the 1920 U.S. Census, he is seventy-three.
His birth month and year were found on the 1900 U.S. Census. Their 25 year old granddaughter, Vera Otey, is again living with them.
