Betty Jean Otter Adams, 69, of Vevay, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

She was born Jan. 21, 1939, in Switzerland County, the daughter of Royland A. "Roll" and Daisy McFarland Otter. She was employed in the food service department at Madison State Hospital from 1984 to 2001. She was formerly employed at the Swiss Villa Living Center, Switzerland County High School and the U.S. Shoe factory in both Vevay and Madison. She attended Spring Branch Baptist Church. She loved cooking and preparing meals. She was a collector of breast pins and also enjoyed sewing, gardening and her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Tom Skirvin and George Adams, both of Vevay; one daughter, Belinda Swanson of Vevay; two sisters, Margaret Turner of Florence and Anna Ruth Holdcroft of Lamb; one half sister, Patty Kay Otter of Carrollton, Ky.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three nieces; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Clyde Skirvin and Arthur B. "Art" Adams.

The funeral was at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial was in Vevay Cemetery.
