JOSHUA H. MOSS

Was born in Putnam county (sic), Indiana, September 18, 1846; and died at his home in Terre Haute, Ind., on December 15, 1918, aged 72 years, 2 months and 27 days. He moved with his parents to Monroe county (sic), Iowa, at the age of seven years, where on November 21st, 1886, he was united in marriage to Lydia L. Byerley, who passed from this life December 27, 1914. To this union nine children were born: Mrs. May Collins, Mrs. Laura Cloud, Mrs. Elsie Shurtleff, Mrs. Ada Schufeldt and David, George, William, John and James Moss, all of whom were present at the funeral services.

On January 27, 1917, at Brazil, Indiana, he was married to Mrs. Matilda Clark who together with the nine children named above, twenty-eight grand children, ten great grand children, and a host of friends remain to mourn the loss of a faithful husband, loving father and a true friend.

He moved with his family to Nuckolls county (sic), Nebraska, in 1884, where he resided until two years ago, when he moved to Terre Haute, Indiana. He united with the Baptist Church at the age of nineteen and for years was an active member. The body was brought to Nelson for burial. Funeral services were held from the home of P.A. Peterson Wednesday afternoon at four o'clock, being conducted by Rev. A.J. Dressler assisted by Rev. W.W. Hull.
