Deceased was born March 25, 1857, in Linn county, Iowa, and spent his boyhood days there. He was married in Taylor county, Feb 1, 1885, to Mary E. McBroom, their first three years of married life being spent in Nebraska. They came to Montgomery county in 1888 and located on a farm in Frankfort township, where they have lived for 41 years. Five children were born to this union. They are Mrs. Lena Halbert, Howard, Lester and Lloyd, and Mrs. Emory Showalter, all living in and near Red Oak, who, with their mother, survive. There are also 14 grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: William, Washougal, Wash.; Albert, Glenwood; Mrs. Jennie Moore, in South Dakota; Mrs. Alice Phelps, Sioux City; Mrs. Liza Stevens, Page, Neb., and an adopted brother, John Andrews, Fremont, Neb. On Oct 26, 1889 he joined with the United Presbyterian church of Pleasant Lawn. He was made ruling elder May 31, 1895 and held that place in the congregation for 34 years. He also served the congregation as Sunday School Superintendent and Bible class instructor and during the years of activity had been instrumental in building up the Pleasant Lawn congregation. Mr. Andrews was a highly respected citizen and he had a large circle of friends who mourn his passing.
