William Lewis Daugherty, was born July 13, 1909 in Dickson, Tennessee to Van William Daugherty and Ida Bell Tingley Daugherty.

Grandparents were; Mary Tingley and Skyler Tingley.

He had two brothers.

He married Rachel Thomas Layton Daugherty in 1926.

He and Rachel had two boys, named William Lewis Daugherty JR and Joseph Lee Daugherty.

They also had one Granddaughter, Pamela.

During his life time he was employed by the J.D Allen Produce Company for fourteen years, and the Alloways Brothers Produce Company for thirty-five years.

On Sunday, May 8, 1977 he passed away from heart failure at the age of 67 years old at the Baptist Hospital in Nashville, TN with his son, Joseph by his side.

His Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, May 10, 1977 at the Woodlawn Funeral Home in the Dogwood Room. Friend and Minister of Wingate Church of Christ; Maurice O'Neal officiated the service. Honorary Pallbearers were the Elders of Wingate Church of Christ and Dr. Robert McCorem, Dr. Drew Pennington, Dr. Clifford Greer, and J.J Hayes. Active Pallbearers were R.B Burke, W.C Waggonor, Neil Howard, Ben Chrisman, Allen Ray, Henry Lester, Donnie Webb, JB Marlowe, and Joe Carr. Following the Funeral Service, William was laid to rest at the Mount Olivet Cemetery located in Nashville, TN in Section twenty-eight.
