Carl Rudolph Eduard "Edward" Roesler, Sr. was born in Brodowin, Brandenburg, Prussia and immigrated to America from the port of Bremerhaven in May of 1881. He sailed on "The Mary", landed at the Port of Galveston and arrived close to Brenham in the Immanuel Lutheran Church community, Wiedeville. He soon met his future bride, Maria Schulz, most likely at church in Wiedeville. They were married on January 12, 1882 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the Immanuel Church community, Washington Co., Texas. They had nine (9) children: Carl Rudolph Albert Roesler, Caroline Wilhelmine Albertine "Tina" Roesler, Maria Sophie Louise Roesler, Rudolph Roesler, Amanda Theckla Marie Roesler, Eduard (Edward) "Ed" Roesler, Jr., Agnes Wilhelmina Roesler, Ernst (Ernest) Wilhelm Roesler, Emelia (Amelia) Wilhelmine Roesler.
They lived in the Wiedeville Community and Edward attempted to make a living as a farmer. Apparently, he was not very successful. Maria had to turn to her father for help on several occasions. A paragraph of The Last Will and Testament of Fritz Schultz states, "On account of having heretofore at various times materially assisted my daughter Maria and her husband, Edward Roesler, by advancing money to her, I have already given her her portion of my estate and therefore will her the sum of Five Dollars and no more."
