Martha Sue Webb, 74, wife of Edward L. Webb, of the Goodsprings community in Etowah, died Wednesday afternoon, Oct., 27, 2004, near her home.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Nellie Mae Zimmerman Bates. She was a member of Goodsprings Baptist Church and a member of the Etowah Senior Citizens Center. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Kenneth, Jackie and Thomas Bates; and two sisters, Katherine Bates and Edna Ray Bates.

Survivors include one son, James Webb of Athens; two grandchildren, Tim Webb and Kendra Webb, both of Athens; one great-granddaughter, Madalynn Webb of Athens; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and L.C. Harris of Etowah; and one brother and sister-in-law, James and Opal Bates of Etowah.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the south chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Burns, the Rev. Robert Sneed and the Rev. Chris Connell officiating. Burial will follow in Goodsprings Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah is in charge of arrangements.
