Cinderella (Howey) Newman, born May 7, 1826, was a daughter of James S. and Keziah (Crume) Howey. On December 20, 1849 Cinderella was married to John J. Newman. In 1864 John and Cinderella Newman were residing in Fall of the Rough, Breckenridge Co., KY. In 1879 the Newman family moved to Shawnee Co., KS, first residing with Cinderella's brother, Van Buren Howey in Topeka township. By 1885 they were residing in Williamsport township.
