Mrs.Hazel Clements,84
widow of Junior M.Clements, died
at 6:45 o'clock Saturday morning
at the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Delbert Shockley, route 1. She had
been in poor health several years
and was bed-fast 10 days. Mrs. Clem
ents lived in Atchison county all of
her lifetime except for a few years
spent in Colorado during her child-
hood.
Funeral services will be held at
2p.m. Monday at the Stanton chapel.
The oldest in a family of 13
children born to Robert Davis and
Martha Williams Hartman. Hazel
Hartman was born July 6, 1871, in
Atchison county near Parnell on
the farm preempted by her grand-
father Hartman. The farm is now
the home of Edward Wolhgemuth family.
Hazel Hartman was reared at
Parnell and attended White Clay
school. She was married Dec. 31,
1895 to Junior M. Clements in
Atchison. After living here a few
years the couple resided on farms
in Doniphan county and in the
Farmington community. After he
retired from farming their home
was at 314 North Fourteenth. He
died Oct. 16, 1936. Since Mrs.
Clements had made her home with
her daughter, Mrs. Elmer Stillings
of Cummings.
Mrs. Clements was a member of
the First Christian church of Atch-
ison. For many years she was active
in the Farmington Christian church
where she taught a young people's
Sunday school class and was a
member of the Loyal Men's and
Women's class. She was a kind
and gracious woman, a wonderful
mother and a devoted friend.
Surviving are three daughters,
Mrs. Delbert Shockley, rout 1,
Mrs. Elmer Stillings, Cummings,
and Mrs. Clarence Bigelow, Atch-
ison; two sisters, Mrs. art Keirns,
Cummings, and Mrs. Roberta Bruce,
Atchison; two brothers, Sam Hart-
man, Elwood, and Pete Hartman,
Campbell, Minn; 12 grandchildren
and 22 great-grandchildren.
A son Claud Clements died
here in 1937.
