Aunt Mattie was the third child of Andy N. Walker, also buried here in the Knox City Cemetery. Mattie Walker married Jim Darr July 21, 1901, in Johnson Co., TX. In 1908, they settled with her father Andy Walker, who moved the entire family to Knox County that year. A few years later, they acquired some of her father Andy's land, and ran cattle and grew countless crops on it. The Darr children still carry out his legacy, owning and operating, (now known as the Darr farm, west of Knox City & the Brazos) this land to date. Aunt Mattie and Uncle Jim were strong in their faith, hard workers, and among the finest Christian people one would ever have the honor of knowing. They were a very caring & compassionate couple. They are with the Lord forever now.
