Pioneer bush pilot William ''Bill'' deVille Smith, 78, died Dec. 27, 1997, at Kanakenak Hospital in Dillingham. Services were held in Dillingham and Anchorage. Burial was in Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born Dec. 20, 1919, in Latouche, and was a resident of Dillingham.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, H. Sally Smith of Dillingham; sisters, Janet O'Neill and Hazel Davidson of Anchorage; brother, Tim Smith of Medford, Ore.; Bill Smith and Diane Evans of Phoenix, Ariz., Jack Smith and Rea Bavilla of Anchorage, Capt. Tim and Stephanie Smith of San Angelo, Texas, and Dan Smith and Kris Rider of Dillingham. Arrangements were by Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary and Crematory.
