Johan Jacob and Johann Conrad both had sons named John Frederick and this has been a source of confusion. Family information included in an 1886 History of York Co, PA lists this John Frederick as the son of J. Conrad but Conrad's John Frederick was born July 17, 1761. J. Jacob's son was born in June 5, 1759. The issue of which is which is not settled and the birth date discrepency on the tombstone is troubling and adds to the confusion - but I believe it is more likely to have the correct year and wrong month than the other way around. Therefore, I list the John Frederick Hake who died in 1830 as the son of John Jacob Hake (1724-1803) and Susanna Dorothea Hamme.
John Frederick Hake married Catherina Crone in about 1785 in York Co., PA. They had 11 children:
1 Elizabeth "Bessie" (Henry Hoffman)
2 John "Phillip" (1 Sarah Schneider 2 Rosa (VonWasser) Ecker)
3 Daniel (1 Sarah Ilgenfritz 2 Mary McConnel)
4 Anna Maria "Polly" (Jacob H. Hollibush)
5 Jacob (Ann, also found as Nancy Loughman)
6 Frederick (Nancy Danner)
7 John George (1 Susanna Miller 2 Catherine Wortman)
8 Catherine Sarah (Michael Weyer)
9 Conrad (Susanna Haas)
10 Samuel F. (Elizabeth Wintermeyer)
11 David (Dorothy Hood)
After John Frederick's death in 1830, his widow moved to Trumbull County, Ohio where many of her children lived. She is buried in Liberty Union Cemetery, Girard, Trumbull, OH.
John Frederick Hake was a veteran of the American Revolution having served in the 7th CO, 2nd Battalion, of the Cumberland County Militia of Pennsylvania.

HE will take his pain away."
