Putnam, IL - Allan D. Bachman, 85, of rural Putnam died Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at the Veteran's Home of LaSalle.

He was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Cazenovia, Ill., to John and Mary (Bachman) Bachman. He married Doris A. Shrock on Feb. 20, 1947, in Tiskilwa.

He was a farmer in rural Putnam until his retirement.

He was an active member of the Willow Springs Mennonite Church, Gideons International and Marshall-Putnam Farm Bureau.

He served in the Air Corps as a sergeant during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; two sons, Dale (Elaine) Bachman and Dean (Beth) Bachman, both of Tiskilwa; one daughter, Marlene (David) Beachy of Paoli, Ind.; six grandchildren; one sister, Eileen Scherty of Low Point; three brothers, Richard Bachman of Metamora, John (Betty) Bachman of Cazenovia and Paul (Lois) Bachman of Metamora; three stepsisters, Minerva Reeb and Orpha Schertz of Metamora and Ruth Gross of East Peoria; and one stepbrother, Russell (Fern) Bachman of Washington, Ill.

He was preceded in death by one daughter.

Burial will be in Willow Springs Cemetery.
