Clarence Jacklin, 92, of Geneseo, Ill., died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2006, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, in Geneseo.
Born Oct. 3, 1912, in Shelbyville, he was the son of the late Oscar and Alden (Smith) Jacklin. He married Mary Elizabeth Ashton on Aug. 14, 1935, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 4, 1969. He married Virginia A. Hancock on June 8, 1970, and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Lloyd M. (wife, Karen) Jacklin of Anchorage, Alaska, and John L. (wife, Carolyn) Jacklin of Green Bay, Wis.; three stepdaughters, Ellen (husband, Tom) Ottinger of Ellijay, Ga., Peggy (husband, Ed) Safford of Sycamore, Ill., and Carol (husband) Prenevost of Geneseo; two stepsons, Ed (wife, Evelyn) Hancock of Sterling Heights, Mich., and Rich (wife, Joyce) Hancock of Griffith; three grandchildren; 17 stephgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
Mr. Jacklin had been a chemicl engineer for Malco Chemical Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1974.
He graduated from Purdue University, with a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering.
Mr. Jacklin was a member of American Chemical Society and life member of Americal Society of Mechanical Engineers. He was a former member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Chapel, Freeman Family Funeral Home, 819 S. Harrison St. Friends are invited to a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Mount Gilead Baptist Church, 4449 S. Smithland Road.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Clapp officiating.
Interment will be in Miller Cemetery, in Shelby County.
