Mrs. Susan I. Whalen, widow of the late John Whalen, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Burriss, Baltimore, Friday night at 10:15 o'clock. She was ill only a few days, although she sustained a stroke of paralysis several years ago. Mrs. Whalen was born in this city on September 17, 1849, and was the daughter of the late ex-Mayor Thomas M. Holbruner. She lived in this city until several years ago, when she made her home with her daughter. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Mary Burriss, of Baltimore; Mrs. George W. Hyatt, of Kensington, Md. One sister, Mrs. Otho J. Gaver, of Frederick, also survives.
The body will be brought to Frederick for interment and will arrive over the 10:50 B&O train from Baltimore this morning. Interment will be made in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
