Mrs. Elijah Barton Passes Away

Mrs. Elijah Barton , 68, passed away Sunday, May 14, 1944.

Sarah Alberta Lyon was born Feb. 7, 1876. She was married to Elijah Barton April 24, 1893.

The family of eight came from West Virginia to Grossman, Oregon in April, 1905, where she had made her home for the past 39 years.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband and six children, Mrs. Lula Carper, Lostine; Silas Barton and Mrs. Mary Trump, Wallowa; James Barton, Heppner; Mrs. Lala Griffith, Ashland; and John Barton, Grossman. One sister, LaVone Collins, Wall Walla; two brothers, George Lyon of West Virginia and John Lyon of Elgin, 26 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, also survive, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
