Aldo Funston of 421 S. 18th died yesterday at General Hospital in Joplin where he had been a patient and critically ill for the past five days. He was 81 years old. He was a brother of Gen. Frederick, noted military leader who won the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Also Funston was born May 6, 1877, on a homestead north of lola which in recent years has been converted into a shrine in honor of Gen. Funston.

He was married June 7, 1899, in Iola to Maude Esse who survives. Other survivors include a sister, Ella Funston Eckdall, Emporia; a nephew, C. M. Funston, Independence; two nieces, Hazel Funston Coffield, Parsons, and Beth Esse Stephens, Berkley, Calif. The general and three other brothers preceded him in death.

Mr. and Mrs. Funston moved to Parsons from Iola in 1914. Between 1914 and 1928 he operated a wholesale flour and feed firm at 20th and Stevens. Later he worked for Commercial Publishers, Inc., as a salesman. In 1943 he became a semi invalid after receiving a hip fracture. He was a member of the Woodman's Lodge and the United Commercial Travelers Assn.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m Wednesday at the Carson Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev.
David Todd. Burial will be in the Geneva Cemetery at lola. The body is at the funeral home where friends may call.
