She and her husband, Joseph Cameron Orr, came to Iowa shortly after their marriage at Hadley, PA, Feb. 13, 1879.
They first settled in an old stone house in Union township, then in 1900 they purchased a farm in Hazel Green township, between Hopkinton and Coggon.
Mr. and Mrs. Orr celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Feb. 13, 1929. Mr. Orr died on Jan. 14, 1931.
Mrs. Orr lived in Hopkinton until 1937, then lived with a daughter, Mrs. Andrew Wilson, in Mediapolis, and a son, Charles, in Mt. Pleasant.
Survivors include four children, Edmund C. and Everett of Coggon; Mrs. Wilson and Charles.
When she noted her 100th birthday in 1951, Mrs. Orr recalled that as a girl her main duty in the spring was to gather maple sap for the family sugar and syrup supply. In the summer wild berries were gathered and dried. In the fall flax was pulled for linen, from which clothing was made for the family.

The event was made the occasion for a happy gathering of family and friends to the number of seventy-five and the day marks a milestone in outstanding events. On February 13, 1879, Mary Matilda Corll and Joseph Cameron Orr were married at Hadley, PA. On February 13, 1929, they celebrated their golden wedding in the presence of seventy-five guests and one brother, Charles Corll, who was a witness of both services. A sister, Mrs. James Thompson, was the lodestone that drew the bride from Pennsylvania to meet her bridegroom here in Iowa. They spent their honeymoon days in the timber northwest of the Alexander Johnson place and commenced to live on a farm in the southern part of Union township, which was their home until 1898, when they bought the Hiram Arnold place and in Hazel Green township, which has continued to be their home ever since with the exception of one year spent in Hopkinton.
Four children; Edward, Everett and Charles, with their wives and twelve children were present at the anniversary, while their daughter, Mrs. Andrew Wilson, with her husband and two children of Mediapolis, Iowa, were prevented by illness from adding to the joy of the occasion. One foster son, Raymond Garner, very ably assisted in putting the guests at ease.
After a bountiful dinner, Revds. E. E. Moore of the Golden Prairie Congregational Church and F. W. Allen of the Hopkinton Reformed Covenanter Church enlivened the celebration with pleasing and fitting remarks. Then Mr. Corll told of the day fifty years ago. Their children remembered their parents with gold rings and the guests presented money.
The day was clear, cold and beautiful and the guests were transferred to bobsleds to finish their journey when automobiles were abandoned at the end of the gravel road. Don Corll and Mrs. Emily Corll Hughes, a brother's children, and James, Charles, and Clyde Thompson, a sister's children, represented Mrs. Orr's family, while Mrs. Luella Guthrie and Anna Chrystal represented Mr. Orr's family.
