Funeral services for Mrs. Noah Sawyer, 76, were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Apr. 10 at the Community Church, Walker. Reverend H. A. Mercier officiated. Soloist was Mrs. Donald Fisher, accompanied by Mrs. Leonard Peterson on the organ. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery Walker. The Thomas Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers were Clifford Sycks, Howard Rodenkuhr, Earl Hillberg, Marion Kennedy, Walter Anderson and Vern Caldwell, Mrs. Sawyer passed away Saturday, April 6th, at Brainerd.

She was born August 11, 1886 at Wichita, Kansas. She was married in 1900 to Noah William Sawyer. They came from Iowa and settled on a farm near Hackensack in 1910. The Sawyers were well known and respected and Mr. Sawyer was Cass County Superintendent of Schools and later was Cass County Representative for several terms. They moved to Walker in 1927.

Mrs. Sawyer was very active in community affairs and was identified with many worthy civic projects. Her husband Noah preceded her in death.

Mourning her are her brother Loren Pierce, of Ogden, Utah; her sister, Loretta Harger, of Marion, Iowa; her sons, Vernon Spencer Sawyer of Seattle, Washington, Leonard of Backus, and Pierce of Walker; her daughters, Lillian of Milwaukee, Ethel Orena Sawyer Tilbury of Twisp, Washington, and Daisy Virginia Sawyer of Walker; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of friends throughout the community.
