AWAY IN ARIZONA DEC . 24

Bert Booton, a former Spirit Lake resident, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lou Garrett, at Casa Grande, Ariz., on December 24. Funeral services were held last Wednesday at Coon Rapids.

He is survived by seven sons; Virgil and Willis of Coon Rapids; Carl, of Superior; Herbert, Vivian and Ivan, all of Spirit Lake, and Leslie, of Ottumwa, and five daughters, Mrs. Iola White, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Mrs. Lou Garrett, of Casa Grande, Ariz.; Mrs. Fred Range, of Milford; Mrs. Joe Clearwater and Mrs. Delbert Lamb, of San Diego Calif.

Albertis Booton


Albertis Booton was born in Marion County, Iowa, September 23, 1871. He moved when quite young with his parents to Audubon county where he grew to manhood.

He was married June 26, 1891, to Jesse Florence Dean at Viola Center, Iowa. To this union were born 12 children, seven sons and five daughters; Carl of Superior, Virgil of Coon Rapids, Iola White of Sioux Falls, S.D., Herbert of Spirit Lake, Doris Garrett of Casa Grande, Ariz., Willis of Ottumwa, Agnes Range of Milford, Leslie of Ottumwa, Vivian of Spirit Lake, Daisy Clearwater of Long Beach, Calif., Ivan of Spirit Lake, and Marjorie Lamb of San Diego, Calif. All these with his wife are left to mourn his passing.

He departed this life December 24, 1937, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lou Garrett, with whom he has made his home for the past seven years. His body was brought to his old home in Audubon county and laid to rest in Viola Center Cemetery. Besides his family he leaves one sister, Mrs. Minnie Baker of Spirit Lake, Charles of Audubon, Will of Spirit Lake and a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews, besides a host of friends.

Those attending the funeral from Spirit Lake besides the relatives were Mrs. Lettie Mason, Mrs. Mason, Mrs. Lester White and Earl White.
