Valentine Armbruster, of East Mauch Chunk, died at 7:30 o'clock Saturday morning of pneumonia after an illness of about one week. Mr. Armbruster was born July 6, 1826 in Baden Germany, and was over 74 years old. He came to the United States in 1846 and located in Mauch Chunk. He was a canal boatman on the Lehigh canal until the commencement of the war. He enlisted in Company A, 54th Pennsylvania Volunteers. In 1864 he re-enlisted in Company I, Seventy-fifth Pennsylvania Volunteers, serving until the close of the war. His army record is very good. After the war he found employment in the Packerton shop and continued there in the capacity of a carpenter ever since. He is survived by his aged widow and these children; Bartlett Armbruster, of Philadelphia; Mrs. Joseph Moyer, Charles Armbruster, Mrs. H. L. Reihman, Mrs. Charles Collins, of East Mauch Chunk; sister Martha, of St. Vincent's Orphans Home, St. Louis, Mo., and Fred Armbruster, Packerton. The funeral will be held to-day at 10 o'clock. Requiem high mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment in the German Catholic Cemetery.
