JESSE CARTER DIES.

Jesse Carter
, 69 years old, a prominent Quaker Valley farmer, died at his home four miles west of Galena at 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon. His death was due to a complication of diseases, from which he had suffered nearly three months.

Mr. Carter had been a resident of Cherokee county since 1868. He was among the first settlers in Quaker Valley and was widely known.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning in Friends church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Quaker cemetery.

Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, three sons, Oscar Carter, S. B. Carter and Jesse Carter, Jr.; three daughters, Mrs. Emma Weaver of Emporia, Mrs. Archibald Bottom of Baxter Springs and Miss Mary Carter, who resides at home.

Funeral services for Jesse Carter, who died Wednesday night from a complication of diseases, were held yesterday afternoon in Friends church in Quaker Valley. Burial was in Quaker cemetery. Mr. Carter had lived in Cherokee county forty-eight years.
