Martha was the daughter of James O Brush and Margaret Wymore of Kentucky. They left Kentucky after 1865 probably because of the Civil War. They settled in Joplin Missouri for about 6 years. It is said that Margaret Wymore had relatives there. This is where Martha was born. They came to Texas in 1876 settling near Aquilla, Hill County, Texas They are on the 1880 census there. Martha's sister Rebeccawas married in Saline County, Missouri. It's possible that she was born in Saline County, MO.
Martha married David C Davis on Oct 8, 1891 in Hill County, Texas. They had 10 children of this union at least 8 surviving to adulthood. bio by Virginia Lee Young
