ALMA A. SLOAN
Alma Averil Carr was born August 17, 1902 to Luther R. and Alice (Rogers) Carr, a pioneer Nebraska couple. Alma was a life-long resident of Keya Paha County and died Monday, December 23, 1991 at the Baptist Hospital in Winner, South Dakota at the age of 89 years, four months, and six days. Alma was united in marriage to Frank Joseph Sloan on February 14, 1925 at Winner, South Dakota, and to this union two sons were born. She was loved very much by all who knew her and her family always came first in her life.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents, and husbnd, Frank who died January 19, 1987.
She is survived by her two sons, Keith Sloan of Springview, Nebraska and Larry Sloan of Cheyenne, Wyoming; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Sloan of O'Neill, Nebraska.
Funeral services were held on Friday, December 27, 1991 at the United Methodist Church in Springview. Burial was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Springview. REV. Roberta Patterson officiated the services. Music was furnished by Doris Weddel Olson, Marilyn Baker, and LuAnn Carr.
Casketbearers were: Kevin Schoettger, Wm. J. Tielke, Roger Carr, Garth Carr, Kenneth Sloan and Garth Schoettger. Memorials were made to the Baptist Hospital of Winner, South Dakota. Arrangements were under the direction of the Hoch Funeral Home of Ainsworth.
