Funeral services for Dorwin D. Alexander, 73, will be held Thursday, Sept.. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Overton Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Webb Cemetery near Spring Hill.
Mr. Alexander died unexpectedly Tuesday, Sept. 7, at his home in Martensdale.
Born near Spring Hill, he had lived in Martensdale since 1943. He worked as a custodian at Martensdale Community School, Solar Aircraft Co., in Des Moines, and at the Des Moines Community Playhouse until his retirement in 1971. He was a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church, and a longtime member of the Martensdale Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by sons Lowell Alexander of Des Moines, Francis Alexander of Ankeny, and Donald Alexander of Indianola; daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Bauer of Indianola; sisters Glyde Alexander of Des Moines, Mrs. Olive Camp and Mrs. Geraldine Heppner of Lake Whales, Fla. and Mrs. Wanda Kellar of Carlisle; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
