Dorothy Louella Newell, daughter of George and Alta Newell, was born Oct. 24, 1909, on a farm near Wick and died April 23 at the West Park Care Center in West Des Moines at the age of 66 years.
She had attended Spring Hill public school and graduated from Spring Hill High School. On Oct. 31, 1929, she was united in marriage to Dorwin Alexander and to this union three sons and one daughter were born; Robert Lowell, Francis, Donald and Marilyn. She was a member of the Center Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Francis (Tommy) and Ernest Newell.
Surviving are her husband, Dorwin of Martensdale; three sons, Robert (Lowell) of Des Moines, Francis of Ankeny, Donald of Indianola, and one daughter, Mrs Marilyn Bauer of Indianola; two brothers, Leslie Newell of Des Moines and Edward Newell of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs Catherine Andrew of Indianola and Mrs Anna Mae Halliburton of Des Moines, 11 grandchildren and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Dennis D. Nicholson April 26 at the Overton Funeral Home. Interment was in the Webb Cemetery near Spring Hill.
