NEWTON, KS -- Lyle Cation, 89, Newton, Kansas, died Monday, April 26, 2004, at Newton Medical Center.

He was born May 13, 1914, in rural Hugoton, Kansas, the son of Clarence and Alice (Lash) Cation.

On Nove. 17, 1934, he married Alta Pope in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She survives.

He was a retired farmer and engineer for Cities Service Gas Company.

He was a member of First Nazarene Church, Newton, KS.

He enjoyed camping and fishing.

Other survivors include a son, Kenneth L. Cation, Wildwood, MO; 4 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Paul Cation; and two sisters, Lois Brooks and Zola Cation.

Funeral services will be April 30, 2004, at First Church of the Nazarene, Newton, Kansas, led by Pastor Rick Dages. Burial will be in Leanna Cemetery, east of Chanute, Kansas, under the direction of Peterson Funeral Home, Newton, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to first Church of the Nazarene.
