Alta Cation, 91, a longtime resident of Newton, KS, died Thursday, May 18, 2006. at Brooking Park Senior Living Community in Chesterfield, Missouri.

She was born on Sept. 17, 1914, in Washita County, Oklahoma, near Cordel, the daughter of Fred and Ada (Martin) Pope.

She was a 1934 graduate of Hills Business University in Oklahoma City, OK.

She married Lyle Cation on Nov. 17, 1934. He preceded her in death in 2004.

From 1930 to 1960 they lived in Oklahoma City, OK, Ventura, CA, and Allen County, KS.

She was an active member of the the First Church of the Nazarene in Newton for 45 years.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth L. (Jean) Cation, Wildwood, MO; grandsons, Michael (Monica) Cation, Austin, TX, and Jason (Cindy) Pauff, Gahanna, OH; two granddaughters, Jan (Mike) Reed, Menlo Park, CA, and Jill (Dave) Uland, Granville, OH; eight-great grandchildren; two nieces, Betty (Dave) Morrison, Judy K. (Barry) King, and a sister-in-law, Julia Cation, all of Bakersfield, Ca; and nephew, Bill (Charlotte) Brooks of Oklahoma City, OK.

A sister, Naomi Lee Cation also preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be May 27, 2006, at the First Church of the Nazarene, Chanute, KS, pastor Rick Dages officiating. Graveside services will be in Leanna Cemetery in Neosho County, Kansas.
