In 1894,Georgia Alston married Perry Knox. They moved to Franklin parish in 1912, where they lived until his death.

She was survived by four daughters, Mrs. V. J. Rawls of Woodworth, Mrs. Lester Phillips of Crowley, Mrs. D. Coburn of Winnsboro, and Miss Burnell Knox of Beaumont, TX; four sons, Asa Knox of Panama, Dennis Knox of Sterlington, Grady Knox of Gilbert and Powell Knox of Sulphur Bluff, TX; 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Georgie (sic) Georgia Alston Knox, a long time resident of Franklin Parish, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. D. Coburn in Wisner after a long illness Tuesday. She was 82 years old at the time of her death.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. this morning in the chapel of First National Home with Meredith Johnson, minister of the Church of Christ of the College addition, Monroe, officiating.

Mrs. Knox was laid to rest at the side of her husband, the late Perry M. Knox, in the Coax Church cemetery.

Mrs. Knox was married to her husband in 1894. To this union nine children were born, eight of whom are still living; John A. Knox, Gilbert, W. D. Knox, Sterlington, Grady Knox, Jigger, Mrs. Bessie K. Rawls, Fairfield, Calif., Mrs. L. Y. Phillips, Brookhaven, Miss., Powell Knox, Okanogan, Wash., Mrs. C. D. Coburn, Wisner and Mrs. L. S. McClain, Sterlington.

Mrs. Knox moved to Louisiana from Arkansas with her husband in 1912 and as long as they both lived resided in Franklin Parish. After her husband’s death she had made her home with her daughters, Mrs. Phillips, Mrs. McClain and Mrs. Coburn, with whom she lived at the time of her death. Mrs. Knox lived a quiet and tranquil life, a devout member of the Church of Christ and a devoted wife and mother.

She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 27 great grand-children and two sisters, Mrs. Callie Powell of Rayville and Mrs. Willie Tuberville of El Dorado, Ark.

Pallbearers were her grand-sons; Paul Knox, G. P. Knox, W. D. Knox, Don Phillips, C. D. Coburn, Jr., and Harold Rawls.
