A Kansas Pioneer Passes Away.
William Crumrine died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. P. L. Condra, near Independence, Friday, February 9, 1906, at the age of 90 years lacking six days. He was a native of Maryland, born in 1816. He was married to Susan McWhorter in West Virginia in 1838. They came to Kansas in 1869, and lived near Kansas City until 1878 when they moved to Elk county and farmed the Lollar farm for seven years when they purchased the farm now owned by J. T. Carter, where he resided until 1896. In 1893 he buried his wife. In '96 he bought a hardware store in Longton and was in business here for four years. During the latter years of his life he has lived a great part of the time with his daughter, Mrs. Condra.
He was the father of thirteen children, eleven sons and two daughters. One daughter and five sons survive him. All of them were with him in his last hours save one.
Early in life he joined the Methodist church and when death came expressed himself as being ready. The funeral services were conducted at the Condra home by Rev. J. D. Smith and the body brought to the Longton ccemetery [sic] where Rev. Bosworth took charge and he was laid beside his wife by sorrowing relatives and friends.
