Edwin M. Carmichael, 1917-2007
Maryville, Missouri - Edwin Morris Carmichael, 90, Maryville, died Saturday, September 29, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville.
He was born September 4, 1917, in Pickering, Missouri, to Charles and Iva (McKee) Carmichael.
Mr. Carmichael served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, attaining the rank of major. He was captured after being shot down over Germany and was a prisoner of war for two years.
He married Mildred R. Mahan on October 19, 1945, in Maryville.
Mr. Carmichael was the Veteran's Service Officer for five counties in Northwest Missouri for 20 years.
A member of the Wray Memorial United Methodist Church, Hopkins, Missouri, he was also a member of James Edward Gray American Legion Post No. 100 and the Veterans of Foreighn Wars Post No. 442.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Earl, Stanley, Charles and Paul Carmichael; and sister, Helen Locke.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; two sons, Mark and wife Cynthia Carmichael and Martin and wife Julie Carmichael, all of Maryville; sister, Carol Farrens, Concordia, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal visitation, however, friends may call anytime at the funeral home.
Graveside funeral services and burial will be held on Tuesday, October 2, at 10 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Maryville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nodaway County Humane Society, Maryville.
