ARTHUR LIVINGSTON: Sketch of the Life of a Good Citizen
When the hand of death was laid upon Arthur LIVINGSTON, and the pulses ceased to throb within that body, the town of Manchester lost a good and faithful servant, Boone County a worthy and honorable citizen, his neighbors a true and just friend, and his family a loved and loving member whose passing will leave a sorrow never to be effaced.

Arthur LIVINGSTON was born in Schoharie county, N. Y. , on Friday Feb. 12, 1832. With his father, Hugh LIVINGSTON, he came west in 1853, when the family settled in Manchester.Of the family there are remaining four sisters, Mrs. Celina SWATLING of New York, Mrs. Elizabeth ABELL of Hunter, this county, Mrs. Sarah SAGE of Hunter, and Mrs. Rachael PATRICK of California, and four brothers, Elijah of Mason City, Iowa, Solomon of Park Rapids, Minn., and J. H. LIVINGSTON of this city.

He was married to Marinda GIBBS in 1856, she being a daughter of the late Mrs. Nancy WEBSTER, who died on Friday, January 12, just nine hours before the death of Mr. LIVINGSTON, being in her 91st year.

There are eight children: Mrs. Alma SPURBECK of Milwaukee, James of Milwaukee, Marvin of Manchester, Mrs. Julia GROW of Caledonia, William of Minnesota, and Florence, Frank and Charles at home. One daughter, Jane , passed away.

Mr. LIVINGSTON's sickness was short. On Friday, January 12, he took to his bed having been troubled for some days with an affection of the stomach. That night he suffered a hemorrhage and passed away.

The funeral was held on Monday at 1 o?clock at the Methodist church in Hunter. The pastor, Rev. BEALE, officiating. The pall bearers were Duncan KELLEY, William THORNTON, I. V. SEBRING, John BALL, James MCGACHY, and William ADAMS.
