Daisy Mae Helmintoller Bishop, 87, of Indian Valley, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at Radford Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Radford, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Cavel Lee Bishop; three brothers; and five sisters. She was born in Covington, Va., on May 4, 1921. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Duncan, of Indian Valley, Gail and Lloyd Cole, of Dublin, and Brenda and Wayne Henegar, of Alum Ridge; sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Karen Bishop, Danny and Pat Bishop, and C.L. and Drema Bishop, all of Christiansburg; sisters-in-law, Nina Wiess, of Dublin, Jeanette Bishop, of Fairlawn, and Sylvia Minnick, of Radford; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Radford Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and the Hospice nurses for their kindness and care of our mother. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2008, at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel in Floyd with the Rev. Joe Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Big Sand Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Maberry Funeral Home.
