Bill Pittman Jr. Galena, Kan.-William Harold "Bill" Pittman Jr., 70, 900 Chicago Ave., died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at his home after a short illness. Mr. Pittman was born July 21, 1927, at Galena, where he was a lifetime resident. He graduated from Galena High School. He had worked for Sperry-Vickers Corp., Joplin, Mo., retiring in 1988 as a quality control foreman. He was a member of Eagle Picher Square Dance Club, and Sixth Street Baptist Church, Galena. He was an Army veteran who served from 1945 to 1947. He married Margaret Badgerow on Feb. 15, 1977, at Galena. She survives. Also surviving are four sons, Harold W. Pittman, Cross City, Fla., and Dennis A Pittman, Doug S. Pittman and Lonnie J. Pittman, all of Galena; five daughters, Debra K. Webb, Baxter Springs, Diane L. Pittman, Weir, LeAnn Paine, Enid, and Hope C. Pittman and Renee L. As boys they used this mode of transportation to travel all over Galena and had a great time. Bill would later in life always keep a horse for his kids to ride all over Galena. Bill dropped out of High School to join the Army and fight in WWll. Afterwards he went back to Galena High School,to the great annoyance:) of his little sister Dimple Jo, then graduated with her class. He was a consistent outdoors man, he loved hunting. It was not unusual for him to gather his boys and pack up the baying coon dogs then head off into the night to hunt raccoon's. He traveled into nearby states joining and winning competitions for "coon hunters". He had a living room filled with gigantic trophies and sometimes a baby raccoon for the kids to play with. Bill and his first wife Florence had 6 children. Harold Wayne, Debra Kay Webb Brooks, Dennis, Steven Douglas, Diane, and Lee Ann. During his second marriage to Darlene, Hope and Lonnie Joe were born. He left behind Margaret his third wife, his square dance partner and constant companion. She brought her daughter Renae into this family with her. Several grand and great grand children survive also.
