BURLEY - Melnot LaVaughn "Mutt" McBride, 61 year old Los Angeles, California and former Burley resident died Sunday, May 5, 1969, in the Inglewood Hospital from complications of heart surgery two months ago. He had lived in Los Angeles for the past nine years. Prior to that he lived in the Burley area. He was born May 5, 1908, in Oakley, the son of Robert Wells and Edith Deseret Cummins McBride. In August, 1928, he married Farine Elizabeth Park in Burley. She died in 1934. In about 1937 he married Afton Neeley in Preston. Later they were divorced. In March of 1960 he married Glena Nelson in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. He moved from Burley to Wendell in 1950, where he operated the Wendell Hotel for ten years before moving to Inglewood, California. Mr. McBride was employed as a security guard at the Los Angeles Temple and was doing temple work. He belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include his wife, Glena of Los Angeles, California; one son, Douglas McBride of Walla Walla, Washington; two daughters, Marsha (Dan) Birshback of Denver, Colorado and Mary Ann (Larry) Anderson of Sacramento, California; three brothers, Cleao W. McBride of Burley, Clifton R. McBride of Lomita, California, and Kaarman E. McBride of Lucerne Valley, California; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah McMurray of Coalton, Oregon, Mrs. Alverda Long of Claremont, California, and Mrs. Norma Gunderson of Pomona, California; three step children; six grandchildren; and five step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith on September 27, 1969. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 10, 1969, at the McCulloch Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery. Friends may call at the McCulloch Funeral Home Thursday afternoon and evening and prior to the funeral on Friday.
