Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Presbyterian Church for W. A. Hale, who passed away early Thursday morning of a heart attack. Rev. Joseph Bruce conducted the services, and interment was made in the Delphos Cemetery.

Music was furnished by a mixed quartet, composed of Mrs. T.A. Coulter, Miss Virginia Griggs, Mrs. Gerald F. Griggs, and Mr. W.J. Hutchison, with Mrs. Jospeh Bruce at the piano. Pallbearers included: Ray Everley, Joseph Marchbank, Roscoe Bourne, J.P. Morrison, Alva Adams, and Harry Parrish. Roy Hartley, funeral director.

William A. Hale was born in McHenry County, Alden, Illinois, on July 11, 1868, and died June 15, 1939.

He came to Kansas at the age of four in a covered wagon, and has lived in Delphos and vicinity since that time. He was married in 1897 to Miss Effie Gilbreath, of Delphos. To them were born three children: Dana Jay, Mildred Grace, and Edna.

Will, as Mr. Hale was known to family, friends, and business associates, spent his life in this community as a farmer and a merchant, thirty years being devoted to the latter. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and had always taken an active part in the activities of the church and the community.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Edna York, of Las Vegas, Nevada; a grandson, Jack; a sister, Mary E. Mase; together with other relatives and a host of friends.
