He was discharged at San Francisco August 21, 1862, per Special Orders, No. 142, paragraph No. 2, Headquarters, Department of the Pacific, of 1862, by way of a favor at his own request.

George Bingam, whose residence was Webster near the Narrow Gage Railroad, was an employee of the Alameda Borax Works, at Oakland, Alameda County, California, during 1891. George Bingham, who stated his year of birth was 1816, was admitted to the Veterans Home of California at Yountville, Napa County, California, August 18, 1896, where he died August 3, 1902.
