Obituary for Mr. Dudley Earl Price

Dudley E. Price, 45, former Journal Cashier, died Tuesday Nov. 17, 1936 at Veterans Hospital where he had been since Oct. 8. His home was at 1956 Harwood. He had been ill with a heart ailment wich was further complicated Sunday by pneumonia.

Born Feb. 12, 1891 in Mason City, Ill., Mr. Price came to Lincoln in 1913 as a traveling salesman for Armour and Co., and four yearslater went to Norfolk as salesman for National Supply company. He enlisted May 12, 1916 in Comapny D. 24th machine gun battalion, and was at Camp Hancoc, Georgia, until his discharge two weeks after the armistice. He advbanced through the ranks of first calss private and corporal, and was a sergeant when discharged. He attended an artillery training school but didn't get overseas. He was a member of Lincoln post No. 34, American Legion.

Mr. Price shortly after being mustered out, became a deputy county clerk and entered the employ of The Journal in 1921 as cashier, a position he had until his last illness. He was intiiated into the lLincoln Lodge of Ilks in 1914, was a trustee of th lodge at the time of his death, had served as grand exalted ruler, and several times represented Lincoln at grand lodge sessions. He was re-elected president of Antelope Golf Club last spring, an office which he had held for two or three years.

Mr. Price had been a member of the retail credit men's for many years. He was active to Lincoln post, Travelers Protective association, until recently, and had represented the post at several national conventions.

Always interested in sports, Mr. Price had been particularly active in golf circles having been an official in Antelope golf club for several years. He took an interest in the development of the entire many golf systems as well as the Antelope project and played the courses frequently until illness cut down his actvivity durng the past year.

Surviving are his wife, Marguerite and son James; four brothers and three sisters in Mason City, Ill., and another sister, Mrs. Samuel Lackey of Lucas, Kansas. His wife was Miss Marguerite Maguire of Lincoln. They were married in 1920.

Funeral services wre held at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 19, the Rev. H. H. Marsden officiating. American Legion post No. 3 conducted rites of the services at the grave in Wyuka. Pall bears were Norman Schofield, Ben Kohon?, Fritz Waller Jr., Dave Schaad, Jophn Bently and Dick C. Beersba.
